About

Hello! My name is Jackson, and I’m a Journalism and Environmental Studies double major with a minor in History and certificate in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality studies enrolled in Ohio University. I have a passion for sports photography, news and culture reporting, column writing and just about any creative medium or outlet that exists.

Outside of the classroom, I am involved in student media across OU. I am the editor-in-chief of The Post, the largest student-run newspaper on campus, and have previously served as the co-multimedia director and a staff writer for Thread Magazine. For both publications, I have written and produced award winning work; my features for them have won national and regional awards, and my semi-weekly column in The Post, Metal Mondays, has won multiple Society of Professional Journalist awards. Additionally, as a writing tutor for the Academic Achievement Center, I work one-on-one with students to improve their writing as well as lead workshops on media law and AP Style.

I have previously worked in Washington, D.C., as an editorial fellow with the media company and digital culture magazine Wild Side Media. I currently work for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as a communications intern and photographer.
